Red Claw

Axe & Hatchet

Red Claw Tools is a personal project that is based off and continued from the Escape to Nature(EN) theme.  The premise of this project is to continue the theme, purpose, and aesthetic design of the EN tools.  These design chooses will be furthered with the creation of other tools that will be based on new ideas and some already preexisting ideas created from past ideation.  The Red Claw brand, as the title infers, will also take a part in this project as the brand and these new products will be joined together.  This means that the added purpose of this personal project is to theoretically start and further the development of a product line.

Ideation

The Axe

An outdoor axe with a slim bit/blade and cheeks target this axe for Felling.  The extended beard of this felling axe allows for more cutting surface and detail work.  The beard also comes to a point for any puncturing necessities.  Viewing the top spine of the axe there is the featured waves for added flare to help identify design style.  This leads to the back where there is the second main feature of this axe.  The butt of this axe comes to a compact point for breaking up rocks and stones.  Lastly in the middle of the cheeks is where a unique alternative design of the Red Claw logo and it's position.

The Hatchet

An outdoor hatchet that has a broader bit/blade and thicker cheeks to target minimal splitting and more detailed work.  The hatchet follows the same main design structure of the above felling axe with an extended beard, the featured waves on top, and the compact point at the butt.  The one glaring difference is the unique Red Claw logo that is raised to help with splitting.   Overall, this similarity in design helps to achieve a partnership between both tools that makes them a cohesive pair with a great working flow.  The axe is for felling trees while the hatchet helps with the clean up.  Do to the different target tasks this pair of tools is meant to provide an ease of use that comes naturally, which allows for a seamless work ethic.
